When OsStriders, Oswestry’s local running club, visited Unity 4 Performance, one thing was certain — it wasn’t going to be your average Thursday night jog.
Instead of miles, they were racking kilos. Instead of pacing partners, they had lifting buddies. And by the end of it, every runner discovered why Olympic weightlifting in Oswestry is quickly becoming a favourite form of cross-training.

After a fun warm-up (that got everyone questioning their coordination), our coaching team introduced the fundamentals of the clean & jerk — the classic Olympic lift.
At first, there were a few “Wait, the bar goes where?” moments. But soon, the OsStriders were nailing lifts with speed, power, and that signature runner’s focus.
It turns out runners make great lifters — they already understand discipline, rhythm, and explosive drive.
