CrossFit Open 2026 Week 8 at Unity 4 Performance | Oswestry Training Update

We’re officially in Week 8 of our current training cycle, and that means one thing:

CrossFit Open mode activated.

At Unity 4 Performance, our programming is designed to peak performance at the right time — not bury athletes under unnecessary fatigue. Weeks 8–9 are structured specifically around the Open.

Why We’re Lifting Light During the CrossFit Open

During the Open, strength training should support performance — not interfere with it.

This week we’re working at 55–62% loading. That’s deliberate.

Heavy lifting creates central nervous system fatigue (CNS fatigue). In simple terms, your body feels slower, recovery drops, and your engine underperforms. During Open season, that’s the opposite of what we want.Our approach:

  • Maintain movement quality

  • Preserve speed and power

  • Stay fresh for Friday

  • Compete well

Gymnastics Cycle – Week 3 of 6

Alongside Open prep, we’re in Week 3 of our 6-week gymnastics progression.

Focus areas:

  • Ring muscle-ups

  • Bar muscle-ups

  • Strict pull-up strength

For athletes chasing their first strict pull-up, we’re building foundational pulling strength and shoulder control.

For athletes who already have muscle-ups? We’re refining efficiency and building capacity.

Progression > ego. Every time.

Monday – Dance Mode

A 10-round couplet.

Catch your breath on the bench, brace hard, and go again.

Tuesday – Weightlifting

Technical focus. Speed under the bar. Precision over panic.

Wednesday – Lucky Dads

Looks simple. It isn’t.

Anyone who redlines early will pay for it later. Pacing matters.

Friday – CrossFit Open 26.2

Bodybuilding track is available daily during open gym for those building muscle alongside performance.
